National Sober Day
September 14, 2022 is National Sober Day. Fittingly, National Sober Day occurs during National Sober/Recovery Month. The intent behind the day is to celebrate Sober Life. Also, to provide further information on addiction awareness. As well as, an effort to show support and respect for those living in sobriety and recovery. National Sober Day was founded in 2019. Real Aligned Women and The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration sponsor the day.
National Sober/Recovery Month
Furthermore, National Sober/Recovery Month aims to remind people about addiction and recovery. Celebrating those living in recovery and reminding those in need, help is available. Addiction and recovery can be a lifelong struggle. Many people may feel ashamed. Not to mention, the stigma that surrounds the issue of addiction. Therefore, celebrations and awareness days/months help breakdown those stigmas.
Ways To Celebrate
National Sober/Recovery Month and Sober Day are all about helping breakdown stigmas and celebrate the path to recovery. Participation ideas:
- Recommit to your own sober path
- Spend the day sober in support of others
- Reach out and support friends and family that are working on their sobriety
- Attend a meeting with a friend
- Make this the first day on your journey
- Volunteer at a recovery center
