Please Take My Child To Work Day is celebrated on the last Monday each June. Originally, Please Take My Child To Work Day began intending to give Stay At Home Moms a day off. The idea is for spouses, friends, and family members to relieve the primary care provider by sharing their regular work day with a child that normally stays home.
The child is able to learn and explore a career option in depth. Additionally, this is a great opportunity to teach children about goals, priorities, and work ethic, and also experience a different environment with a trusted adult. These valuable life skills also help develop the child’s perspective on what their future could look like. Not to mention, this gives the stay at home parent a chance for some time to themselves during the week.
How To Start An Event At Your Office
Some offices and workplaces plan for all employees to bring a child to work for a scheduled day of sharing the workplace with children. Planning activities and events helps everyone enjoy a fun and engaging experience. If your employer doesn’t currently participate in this event, it’s worth a try to open the discussion and begin planning for next year. If you have a friend or family member who stays home to care for their children, offer to give them a day off.
