Annually on June 1, Stand for Children Day is celebrated. Thousands of Americans raise awareness about the issues that children face every day. Some of these problems are education, childcare, health care and discrimination. Over the years, one major problem has been brought to the forefront. The problem is whether public schools are receiving proper funds and having educated teachers who adopt modern teaching methods. With lack of funds and teachers, children do not receive the proper education they need. This is one major problem that needs resolved. Let’s stand up for the children across America to help them grow and develop into aspiring adults.
History of Stand for Children Day
Stand for Children was founded in 1996 with one purpose – to make life better for the children of America. The founders are Jonah Edelman and Martin Wright Edelman. The first ever demonstration pulled a crowd of 300,000 people. This just shows how many people want to stand up for children across America. Stand for Children has managed to collect and distribute 70,000 books and renovate over 100 playgrounds. Since 1999, the organization has obtained $6.7 billion in investments for children’s education. Stand for Children holds rallies across the country to bring awareness of this important day.
How to Celebrate
One way to celebrate is to donate to the Stand for Children organization. You can donate here. By donating, you can make a difference in the education and health of young children. You could start a petition for an issue that you feel strongly about in your community. Take this petition to the authorities to convince them of the importance of finding a long-term solution. Finally, learn more about child psychology. Did you know that when a child has daily playtime their mental and social development improves? Learn more about Stand for Children Day here.
