April is Cancer Control Month in the United States. It was approved for observance in 1943 under the guidance of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The month is intended to help ease the burdens brought on by cancer. Not just for those fighting cancer, but for family members of those with cancer. With great effort to educate people on how to decrease their chances of getting certain cancers.
Why Cancer Control Month?
Cancer Control Month provides support and education toward cancer care and prevention. Reminding others to keep those currently fighting in our minds. While focusing on prevention and early detection. First and foremost, by informing people of ways they can limit risks of certain forms of cancer. Secondly, promoting the importance of healthy living. Thirdly, encouraging people to use cancer screening services when available. Lastly, reminding people that early detection is key to fighting cancer.
