Annually, Healthy Kids Day is observed on April 18. Families and children participate in special activities on this day. A child’s health is important. Children are more sensitive to illnesses so having a yearly check-up is necessary. By keeping children healthy, they will grow into healthy adults.
How to Observe
The best way to observe is to get active and try new activities. Go for a family walk or bike ride. Play a sport, such as basketball or baseball. Look up new recipes to create healthy snacks and meals. If your community has a farmer’s market, go there to walk around and see what kind of healthy items they have to offer. Sign up for a marathon that the whole family can participate in that promotes health. Or for something more intriguing, go to the zoo or park. Cook dinner together as a family. Take Action
Get involved with your child’s school and after school programs. By having your child involved with healthy programs, this will help promote their learning and developmental skills. Ensure that your child eats healthy meals. Limit screen time for your child. “Research shows that the more time children engage with screens, the harder time they have turning them off as they become older children.” Set firm limits with screen time, such as no video games on school nights. Ensure you child has access to equipment and space, such as a jump rope and a yard to play in. To learn more about taking action to keep your child healthy, visit Action for Healthy Kids.
