The Importance of Immunizations
Immunizations prevent the spread of diseases and effectively save lives. At every stage in life, vaccines provide security against harmful, potentially life threatening diseases.
Children receive vaccines most frequently to prevent contracting common serious diseases from the beginning of their lives. Some immunizations occur yearly from childhood into adulthood to avoid serious diseases, while others occur less frequent. There are fourteen vaccine-preventable diseases once prevalent in the US that have effective immunizations.
Resources
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides free information for patients, parents, and providers. Find out what vaccinations you and your family should receive. Locate the General Best Practice Guidelines for Immunization by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for more information on why and when to receive a vaccine.
Knowledge is power when considering what immunizations are necessary for you and your family. Use available resources to develop a clear understanding and protect yourself and your family.
